Mini splits heat and cool your home room by room, with no ductwork to run. We design the system around your house, install it, and handle the Mass Save paperwork.
Step 1 of 2
Every home is different, and the only way to design a system for yours is to see it.

A mini split is a heat pump that doesn’t need ductwork, the metal channels a central system uses to carry air to vents in each room.
An outdoor unit connects to indoor heads, one for each room or zone, mounted on the wall, the floor or the ceiling.
Each head heats in winter and cools in summer, and each room can be set to its own temperature.

Multi-family homes, triple-deckers, and homes heated by an oil boiler through baseboards or radiators. Mini splits eliminate the need for new ductwork.
“We live in Jamaica Plain, on the third floor of a classic triple-decker. …After years of using window units, we decided to look into mini-splits.”

If you’re keeping your heating system and want to retire the window units, mini splits add heating and cooling to the rooms you choose.
“We were looking to add air conditioning to our 1950s home with hot water baseboard heat, and wanted a system that balanced our home’s existing infrastructure with aesthetics and value.”

We replace oil, gas, and electric heating with heat pumps. Mini splits do it room by room, with a head in each room or zone.
“…for nearly 4 years we endured unreliable gas baseboard heating to keep warm in the winter and inconvenient window AC units to keep cool in the summer.”
★★★★★John Nguyen, Google review
Older houses, finished attics and basements, and additions, anywhere it’s hard for ductwork to reach.
“Forge installed our mini splits in our 160 year old house. The designer, Guy, provided a very thoughtful planning that was the least invasive of the 5 quotes I received for this project.”
★★★★★Amy Shaw, Google review
Some homes get the best result from a mixed system: a ducted heat pump where ducts already run or can be easily installed (like an unfinished basement or attic), and mini splits where it’s hard for ductwork to reach.
We install Mitsubishi, Bryant and Quilt mini splits, and we’re a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor.
We install cold-climate heat pumps because they’re built to perform reliably in New England’s harsh winters.
We recommend the equipment that fits your house once we’ve seen it.

The price depends on things we can only measure in person: the size of each room, how much heat your home loses in winter, and what your electrical panel can carry. During and after the visit we size the system with a Manual J load calculation and check the panel, and your written price comes with the Mass Save rebate already applied.

Mass Save rebates mini splits by the ton, the same as ducted systems: up to $8,500 in 2026, and up to $16,000 if your household is income eligible. We check what you qualify for, file the paperwork, and take the rebate off your price upfront.
Most Forge customers finance through the Mass Save HEAT Loan: 0% interest, up to $25,000, spread over as long as seven years. We guide you through it and handle the filing. Mass Save authorizes the project and the lender approves you.
2026 Mass Save rates, for systems installed January 1 to December 31, 2026. Program eligibility requirements and restrictions apply, and offers are subject to change or cancellation.
